The Mt. Airy BID board of directors is made up of property and business owners who take stewardship of the organization very seriously. Every year, we pledge to put your annual investment to work in ways that help our Germantown Avenue commercial corridor thrive and grow, benefiting all of us.

- Cleaning the avenue six days a week, collecting and disposing of more than 100,000 gallons of trash annually.
- Weeding and raking leaves from the sidewalks and removing hundreds of instances of graffiti and illegally posted signs.
- Regular reporting of graffiti, street light outages, and improper trash disposal to the city’s 311 service.
- Annual mulching of the 220 tree pits along the commercial corridor and on-going weed removal.
- Installing 50 Big Belly Solar Trash Receptables and decorating them with “Litter Critter” murals.
- In partnership with Pennsylvania Horticultural Society’s Community Land Care Program, bi-weekly cleaning of 200,000 square feet of vacant lots in East and West Mt. Airy that are within a few blocks of the commercial corridor.
- Serving as the registered community organization (RCO) for the Mt. Airy commercial corridor to oversee zoning discussions and decisions.
- Annual planting and maintenance of 96 attractive flower baskets and development of six pocket parks along the commercial corridor that earned a “Blue Ribbon” award from Pennsylvania Horticultural Society.
- Supporting the installation of pedestrian benches to encourage walkability.
- Partnering with key institutions to secure additional parking on weekends and evenings, while also facilitating parking regulations in select blocks to stimulate parking turnover and increase customer traffic.
- Installing 100 permanent Go Mt. Airy Banners along the commercial corridor, as well as hanging festive seasonal holiday decorations.
- Awarding $25,000 in façade improvement grants to local business owners.
- Purchasing and installing security lighting behind more than 50 properties in the Business Improvement District.
- Working with local law enforcement to spur more police presence and cooperation
- Working with local civic organizations in the ongoing effort to keep Mt. Airy beautiful and safe.
- Working with the city to improve pedestrian safety by identifying locations for state-of-the-art pedestrian crossings.
